Great in 2019, awful in 2025 👎
Jardin Etnobotanico de Oaxaca的点评
点评：I first visited the gardens in 2019 and it was a marvellous and magical experience. Not so my most recent visit in 2025.
We arrived as a group of 4 and were instructed to sit in an allocated area along with about 25 other people. After about 15 minutes, a man approached the group and beckoned us to follow him. We walked a small distance and listened to a rambling set of instructions which were mostly about taking photos for Instagram and the prohibition on taking videos because apparently the plants are subject to copyright🤔
We were then escorted by a woman to a small area of the gardens which contained cactus and a pool and were told we had 15 minutes to take photos. I say 'escorted' because there was no guiding - we heard no information on the history of the gardens and no botanical information on the plants. A 10 year old could have done this job. When our time was up, we thought we were being escorted to another part of the gardens but instead were being shepherded towards the exit.
This is a stark difference to my visit in 2019 where they offered actual guided tours in both English and Spanish and we saw the whole gardens which included many other types of plants including those from tropical locations - not just a piddling section with cactus only. We were free to roam and take as much time as we wanted. It was relaxing and peaceful instead of rushed and constrained.
To make matters worse, none of the female toilets had toilet paper.
This reminds me of a previously successful business which is now under new management and inexplicably driving itself into the ground. The only positive is that it's free but even then I'm not sure it's worth it.

更糟糕的是，女厕所竟然没有卫生纸。
这让我想起一家曾经很成功的企业，现在换了新老板，却莫名其妙地走向衰落。唯一的优点是免费，但即便如此，我也不确定它是否值得一去。
