点评:Although at the moment Placa Da Liberdade is undergoing major renovation, well to be blunt it's currently like a building site but you can still see Monumento A Dom Pedro lV .
Dom Pedro l ( 1798-1834 ) known in Brazil and Portugal as the " Liberator or Soldier King " was the founder and first ruler of Empire of Brazil from 1822-1831 and the King of Portugal in 1826 under the name of Pedro lV ,the statue thats made from 5 tons of bronze was the work of sculptor Celestin Anatole Calmels and architect Joaquim Da Lima ,its such an impressive equestrian statue depicting the king on his trusty steed ,the relief panels either side of the plinth depicting the delivering of King Pedro lV heart to the representatives of Porto while the other relief depicts the landing at Mindelo were Pedro lV presented the flag to Tomas De Melo Breyner ,at the forefront of the plinth is the coat of arms of Braganca ,all in all its a great equestrian statue thats well worth a few minutes of your time if you're in the area and easy to locate along Placa Da Liberdade.
