点评:This is a very sad little zoo and, frankly, shouldn't be allowed to operate. The animal enclosures are too small and have bare dirt floors. Where is the grass to roll in or small trees to climb? Some have old kids' toys strewn around the cage, which is hardly a natural setting. Loud pop music blares from a speaker, further stressing the poor creatures. There were some sort of small cats that were pacing frantically back and forth in their tiny cages. High stress there. The porcupine cages had almost-empty water dishes; however, a worker showed up and dumped more water in the dishes without emptying the dirty water first. What an invitation to disease. Signage is inadequate around the cages, and equipment such as hoses and building material is laying about the passageways. The advertised "petting" zoo consists of aggressive goats that stick their heads thru the wire corral to grab food from children who are quickly intimidated by the violence of the situation. There's no entering the enclosure to pet, needless to say. I would advise the Sierra Nevada Zoological Park to take a page from the Animal Ark in town and create a natural environment for the animals. If not, this zoo should close.
