点评:Firstly, our children (9 & 7) loved our trip to Tumblestone Hollow and the adults (parents and grandparents) appreciated the stunning setting. Having previously only visited for the craft fairs, we enjoyed this different experience of the estate.
Unfortunately, the play attraction fell below our expectations. Clearly a lot has been invested in it but the design lacked a child’s perspective. The main feature is an elaborate walkway with a lack of variety of play experiences. It suffers from a significant degree of style over substance.
We didn’t mind the challenging topography but felt the design of the play features could have been better designed around this, while also making some accessibility improvements. We also noticed a lot of children were unsupervised and, while that is a parenting issue, the terrain doesn’t help.
The highlight was seeing a herd of deer thunder past the perimeter of the play area, including a white stag. However, there was also deer poo all over the play area. I recognise the challenge of fencing them out (some of the fencing was broken) but the hosts really ought to consider E.coli measures, especially when selling food on site. Speaking of which, the ice cream vendor was super friendly and offers tasty things we don’t see on other menus.
Overall, we had a sense of a missed opportunity.
