点评:This is a small Wildlife Sanctuary not a Zoo so don't expect lots of animals on display.
In saying that we saw quite a few.
The sanctuary is primarily there to help rescued wildlife and rehabilitation to release them back into the wild if possible. Those who can not fend for themselves back in the wild end up with a permanent home.
The exception to this is the Tasmanian Devils. They are the world's largest carnivorous marsupials and are an Endangered Species: Listed as endangered, their population has declined by roughly 90% due to a contagious, fatal cancer known as Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD).
They are there as a breeding stock to prevent the extinction of the species.
We made it there in time for the 45min tour which is part of your entrance fee if you make it on time.
Cameron, the young lady conservationist was very interesting and informative. We learnt a few things we didn't know. She also brought out a baby Wombat and Tasmanian Devil for an up close look and pat.
Animals we saw were, Tasmanian Devils, the most I've ever seen in one place, Wombats, if they come out of thier burrows, Spotted Quoll, Kangaroo, Wallaby, Pademelon, Potoroo, Echidna, Wedgetailed Eagle, Masked Owl, Kookaburra, Albino Magpie, Cape Barren Geese, Black Swan, Ducks and More.
Tip: Watch where you step.
There is a shoe cleaning facility near the exit if you dont.
