A Hidden Treasure off the Beaten Path
Frederick Douglass National Historic Site的点评
点评：I was in Washington, DC for the weekend and I have always wanted to visit this site. I have heard so many wonderful things about this place and I wanted to see it for myself. I had to take a taxi to this place but it was worth it. The historic site has a movie about Frederck Douglas that is about 15 minutes long. It's a wonderful way to start the tour.
You then had to walk up a lot of stairs to get to the house. The guide tours are always timed and are conducted by a park ranger. The exterior of the house is beautiful but the interior of the house is stunning. Every room tells a story and the house is easy to walk through. Photography is allowed but not flash photgraphy. When you go upstairs, their is a section of the house where you will see an incredible view of Washington, DC.
I had a WONDERFUL tour guide during my visit to the FD House. He was a park ranger and he knew the life of Frederick Douglas as well as every room in the house. He even told us out Frederick Douglas's 'Man Cave' out in the back yard. He had a great appreciation for the site and was a joy to listen to and be with.
