More than a walk, very much a hike
Warrumbungle National Park的点评
点评:We were here for 1 day to see the Bread Knife. The views are spectacular once you HIKE to a lookout, but there is very little opportunity to see much along the way. The main walking path from the main car park at Pitcham is well maintained. The visitor information centre is bang on with their advice, maps and what to see in the timeframe. But this is no "day in the park easy walk", it's very much a hike, especially doing the Macha Tor and Febar Tor route. The Spirey View lookout is better for a more leisurely walk. The best view to see the Bread Knife is from Macha Tor, but you have to hike and climb up a 170m path and rock face to get to that view. There is only 1 seat along the whole 4km round trip and that seat has no view. It's not the most beautiful national park I have ever been to. It's quite ugly in parts. There was a major bushfire that came through in 2013, and so much of the undergrowth is grey and loggy. If you are only here for a day and can hike, I would suggest the Macha Tor lookout and the Whitegum lookout on the way out. If you have kids, I would suggest the Spirey View lookout and the Whitegum lookout. If the National Parks had more money, I would invest in more chairs and really clearing out the undergrowth in parts.
