点评：We took a group of elderly disabled clients to Tamar Lakes for what should have been a peaceful day out. Our staff were driving a minibus full of vulnerable passengers, trying to get them as close as possible to the water without struggling over gravel or unsafe paths. In doing so, they parked in the lower car park, focused on helping clients safely out of the vehicle.
In the middle of managing wheelchairs, mobility issues, and making sure everyone could actually enjoy the view, the parking machine was simply overlooked. A genuine human mistake — nothing more.
For that, we received a £100 fine.
Yes, the staff member made an error. But £100 for a moment’s oversight, while supporting disabled people, feels extremely excessive and completely disproportionate to the situation & location.
The whole parking setup feels overbearing, unforgiving, and not at all considerate of the realities of caring for people with additional needs. There are plenty of better places to go in Devon where accessibility is easier, the environment is more welcoming, and you’re not punished for trying to do the right thing.
