点评:I arrived earlier than expected at my Sydney hotel and could either wait for my room to be ready in the executive lounge or go for a walk. I opted for jumping into a cab and going down to the Opera House for an hour. This iconic building never gets old or tired. Each time I see it and wonder around it, it is still like the first time. It is very rare for a piece of architecture to have such an emotional impact upon me.
Yes, it is a tourist magnet as well as being a regular haunt on sunny weekends for Sydneysiders having drinks at the numerous bars and food areas under the opera house forecourt.
Not only do you have this incredible building, you also have beautiful views of Sydney Harbour, the Bridge and back into the Sydney city skyline. The Opera House itself has many concerts, operas and theatre productions through out the year. There are also fantastic behind the scenes tours available. I did one a few years ago of all the opera sets, it was quite special.
I don’t live full time in Sydney anymore, home now is mainly Saigon. So coming here now has taken on an extra significance. It has become a mix of nostalgia and knowing that I am home again all be it too briefly.
