点评：Madison, Georgia, one of the best preserved antebellum towns in the South, allows visitors to experience the height of opulence and extravagance in the pre-Civil War period, when cotton was King. And no mansion in the Madison Historic District is the epitome of that elegant era than Heritage Hall. Located at 277 South Main Street, it is known as Madison's Antebellum Dame, one of the finest homes on the Antebellum Trail. Built in 1811 in the Greek Revival style, it was expanded in 1830 by new owner Dr. Elijah Evans Jones, who converted the structure into what we see today -- two stories, four columns flanked by two square piers, beautiful period furniture, exquisite architecture, porches on both sides. Open from 11 to 4 Monday through Saturday and 1:30 to 4:30 on Sunday, visitors enjoy a docent-led tour of the property and hear stories about the people who once lived within its walls, including the diamond window etchings that were created by the Jones family and add to the historical charm.
