点评:I hooked into the QVM whilst visiting Melbourne for the weekend and found the experience a bit mixed. This was because there are separate parts to the market that will appeal to different visitors depending upon what they want. I can understand the appeal of the venue and the allure of many of the stalls, but for me the highlight was the various delicatessans and food outlets that were operating next to the meat and seafood hall. If I had more time and more money I wou;d have hit up more of the stallholders, such as the Hellenic and the Polish outlets. I grabbed some Boreks from the relevant shop, and next door was the Bratwurst shop where I picked up a currywurst. Both offerings were tasty enough, though in the latter case I've had a better and more authentic currywurst from the Berlin Bunker in Sydney.
As for the rest of the markets I enjoyed the used book stalls, whereas the various knick knacks and clothing sellers another part of the QVM were a bit naff. The fruit and vege looked decent, and I would expect if you were a local or you had a longer time in Melbourne then coming here and loading up on the food goodies would be a winning move. As it stands I'd suggest it does what it does better than say Haymarket does in Sydney, whereas it doesn't match the quality of food that you can get at Adelaide Central Markets.
