点评:Very disappointing experience today.
We drove about 1.5 hours to Tallulah Gorge specifically to see the waterfalls and use the stairs/trails through the gorge. We arrived around 3:30 PM, entered the park, and paid the $10 parking fee at the gate. The employee taking our payment said absolutely nothing about the fact that the stairway had already been CLOSED SINCE NOON.
We only discovered this after parking and walking into the park, when we reached the stairs and saw the closure notice.
I completely understand that trails or stairs sometimes need to be closed because of heat, weather, or safety conditions. That is not my complaint. My complaint is that if an employee is sitting at the entrance collecting parking fees and knows that a major attraction in the park has been closed for hours, visitors should be told BEFORE they pay and enter.
A simple, “Just so you know, the gorge stairs are closed today,” would have given us the choice whether we still wanted to pay and go in.
Instead, we paid, walked in, discovered the closure ourselves, and essentially wasted a 3-hour round trip. Yes, apparently the information was posted somewhere on the park website, but not every occasional visitor knows they need to specifically search for same-day stair closures before coming.
Very poor communication and customer service. If you are going to collect an entrance/parking fee from visitors, especially when a significant part of the park is unexpectedly closed, at minimum INFORM THEM at the gate.
