点评:The walk (self guided) through the gardens is wonderful and full of beautiful plants of different sizes and shapes, all compressed into one acre in a residential area. The history is better laid out in the web site, but both the husband and wife were interned during WWII in quite different places and different circumstances. They had known each other before the war. They met again after thinking the other had died, and married and spent their time building their garden and their house. The house is quite revolutionary for the interior design at the time (see the dining room pictures) and being in the house is a mixture of pure domestic matters (period tiling in the bathroom), modern for the time design elements (indirect lighting in the dining room) and china from that era when they lived there. Our timing was at the end of the afternoon and we missed the opportunity to have tea and a snack there, but it's clear it would have been a lot of fun. Our snack was at the nearby DemiTasse, but that's another review.
