点评：We booked through this Iceland-based operator (a one-man show who doesn’t even visit Svalbard every year) who only sells Hurtigruten products—hotels and excursions. Big mistake. Quality was disappointing, and he hadn’t seen the rooms he was booking.
The one bright spot: the MS Bard Hybrid catamaran tour, led by a wonderful British guide who’s lived in Svalbard for 11 years. The other excursions were run by seasonal staff reciting memorized scripts, with a van too small for the group (8 seats for 12 people means two trips and lots of waiting). Skip the “Wilderness Evening” at Camp Barentz—total tourist trap.
Far better resource: the official Svalbard tourism office and visitsvalbard.com—helpful, central, and well-run.
Tip: Don’t rely on a single operator tied to one cruise line. Shop around.
