点评：I’m leaving this review because I genuinely wish someone had warned me before I booked.
Svalbard Experts felt overpriced compared to booking locally/direct. After arriving in Longyearbyen and doing a simple comparison, I found that similar activities and packages were available for significantly less when booking through local channels (especially via Visit Svalbard / visitsvalbard.com, which aggregates local activity providers). If you’re reading this: please consider booking locally instead of through this agency. It’s just hard to justify paying extra for what appears to be the same underlying tours.
What bothered me most is that they present themselves as “Svalbard Experts,” but they are not based on Svalbard. Their own website lists their office address as Tangabryggja 18, 110 Reykjavik, Iceland.
That doesn’t automatically mean they can’t sell Svalbard trips, but it does change the vibe when you think you’re buying “local expertise” and then realize you’re dealing with an external travel agency.
I also spoke with a local in Longyearbyen who did not recommend booking through them and strongly suggested booking direct with local operators instead. That matched what I experienced: once you’re on the ground, you realize there’s a well-established local ecosystem, and you can find local providers and activities in one place via VisitSvalbard.com
To be fair, communication may be fine for some people, but for me the value proposition wasn’t there: higher price, extra middle layer, and less transparency than I expected.
My recommendation: skip the markup and book locally/direct through Visit Svalbard (visitsvalbard.com) or directly with the operator.
