Saw Many Key Deer and Learned Alot

点评：We visited Big Pine Key because we like the outdoors, wildlife, and low key adventures. We enjoyed it very much and the preserve was a highlight. The visitor center is small, but it is worth a stop to learn about the endangered key deer. The staff was friendly and helpful plus they have clean bathrooms! We drove around the preserve and Big Pine Key and during our drives we saw a total of 14 key deer. Some were in the preserve and some were scattered through residential neighborhoods especially on our drive from The Blue Hole to No Name Key. The Blue Hole is a short stop, but a great place to see some wildlife and birds. We especially liked stopping in the morning (we saw two alligators, anhinga, a green heron, and two black-capped night herons). It's a pleasant and peaceful place. We walked the trails that are on the left and short drive north from The Blue Hole. They were peaceful and pleasant though we also saw a few song birds and turkey vultures on the day the we were there. It was still worth the walk to visit them and we expect that on a different day we would have seen more birds and wildlife.
