点评:The store started out okay, but things took a pretty upsetting turn when we came across two puppies, only about four weeks old (their DOB was listed on the paper attached to their enclosure), left alone with a dry water bowl and no bedding other than wood shavings.
From there, we entered a pet area where a cat, birds, and other animals were kept in very small spaces, with windows for crowds of people to stand and stare at them. The outdoor area with birds and goats was just as concerning. Food containers were nearly empty, water pails looked dirty or clogged, and several animals seemed distressed.
When I asked the manager who was responsible for caring for the animals, she seemed annoyed by my questions and directed me back to the pet area to see if “someone has the time to go outside.” That response was honestly just as disheartening as what I’d seen. There were so many animals, yet seemingly no one outside monitoring them. I also watched a man walk right up to the ducks with his dog and laugh as the ducks flapped around and vocalized in distress.
I want to be clear that farming and agriculture do not have to equate to cruelty or neglect. There are plenty of ways to raise animals, operate a farm, and educate the public while still treating animals with care and respect. But clean water, adequate food, appropriate shelter, and protection from unnecessary stress should be the bare minimum, not too much to ask.
What bothered me most was the combination of the conditions I observed and the dismissive attitude when I asked questions. Animal welfare should matter, and if a business invites the public to interact with or view animals, it has a responsibility to make sure they're being properly cared for.
Honestly, this place sucks. I left feeling awful for the animals. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
