点评：Alpaca Expeditions has done it again! After having the most incredible experience hiking the 4 day Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with Alpaca last year, we signed up for another expedition to take the 5 day Choquequirao Trek. Although this Inca site is considered the sister city to Machu Picchu, the trek is much less traveled. My husband and I had our own private tour led by our incredible guide Wilbert, along with our own personal chef Roni, and our strong horseman Dino. Wilbert was so knowledgeable and patient with us as we tackled this tough trek, which led us down and up a canyon, twice. He brought such a positive energy to the adventure. Roni cooked us fresh meals 3 times a day to fuel us. Each meal was unique and made with local, fresh ingredients. Dino led the mules that carried our things, and he even invited us to his home that we passed along the trail, where we met his lovely family. Unlike the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, several families live along this trail. It was a wonderful experience meeting the locals and learning more about their way of life. The highlight of this trek was spending a full day at Choquequirao. Some people take the 4 day trek option but then only spend part of the day at the site. The 5 day trek gave us an entire day to explore without needing to rush. Plus, we had most of the site to ourselves. Having a guide is also extremely beneficial, as Wilbert did an excellent job teaching us about the site and the Incas. We feel so fortunate to have had Wilbert, Roni and Dino for our team and recommend Alpaca Expeditions to everyone. The company really goes above and beyond to create the best experience!
