点评:👏My wife and I had a wonderful visit to the Silver Reef Museum. We really didn’t know what to expect when we arrived, but it turned out to be one of the most interesting historical stops of our trip through southern Utah.
We were especially fascinated by the story of Silver Reef’s mining boom and learning about the unusual geology that allowed silver to be mined from sandstone in this area.
The docent was excellent—friendly, informative, and extremely knowledgeable about the prospectors, mines, buildings, and people who made up this once-booming Wild West community.
There is also a short film that is both informative and entertaining, and the museum has a gift shop with various souvenirs and other items available for purchase.
One of my favorite stories involved what happened after the silver boom ended. As abandoned buildings were being dismantled and their lumber salvaged, one man reportedly discovered a bag of gold hidden in a building’s foundation. The discovery provided him with enough money to purchase his own farm. Stories like that really bring the history of Silver Reef to life!
Best of all, admission was only $5 per person when we visited, making this an exceptional value.
If you’re traveling through southern Utah and enjoy history, the Old West, mining, or simply discovering something you probably didn’t know before, Silver Reef Museum is well worth the visit. Five stars from us! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
