点评:The fabulous Dalí Museum (created by the master himself from scratch) is so packed with trippy paintings, drawings and oddball artefacts that a visit feels just a little bit life-changing. Reality bends. Things tilt.
The former theatre is a maze of large and small rooms, hidden passages and staircases. Everywhere you look, there’s art or something strange hanging on the walls. It’s like a treasure hunt that lasts an hour, with little rewards waiting around every corner.
Dalí’s extraordinary, almost photographic talent as a draughtsman and painter is documented from his early beginnings at 16 (when he was already better than most artists ever become) right up to his death in 1989 at the age of 84.
The beautiful portraits soon give way to surreal creatures doing unspeakable things. Sex, death and everything in between are portrayed with such energy and imagination that the viewer can’t help but feel a twinge of envy.
There is also ample proof that Dalí mastered cubism, impressionism and even Leonardo da Vinci’s distinctive Renaissance style – when he felt like it. Quite simply, there was no artistic style this eccentric genius couldn’t handle.
The Dalí Museum is a full-on sensory experience. When you finally step back out onto the street, you’re slightly dazed – and reality is never quite the same again.
