It would be easy for a tour guide to simply repeat some kind of script about this tense, up-close visit to the border with North Korea, but Hana added a dimension that was all her own.
Beyond standard war history, Hana included poignant personal anecdotes about how the Korean War impacted her own family, especially her grandmother.
Hana explained how the brutal conflict resulted in her family being permanently fractured, assuring that some members would never be allowed across the border again.
Her presentation was professional, friendly, and informative. Her polished English and familiarity with each stop along the tour made the experience well worthwhile.
She was happy to address questions at any point throughout the journey, both on the luxury tour bus and during stops.
