Upon calling them, I was told that the issue was happening over the course of a few days ( although the owner says it was just yesterday) but each day they continued to send out 16 sleds at each of the run times. So much for taking care of the dogs. If you know you have a problem, you decrease rather than keep running the dogs into exhaustion (and I am not a dog sledder and I know that).
The woman on the phone says that they were sending out 4 sleds in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. How was the cancellations of some reservations and not others cancelled? The owner says they were booked with tour companies. Those not booked with tour companies were cancelled.
Upon asking for clarification about the dogs and their health, I was told this was a new batch of dogs and they were not training as well. As told, every year when it is a new batch of dogs things could happen. Yet, they knew that had issues with the dogs AND continued to fully book rather than adjust and train.
No one wants to harm an innocent animal for the sake of entertainment. But, it appears that this company placed making money over the dogs until it was at a serious level which unfortunately occurred when our family was to use their service.
Rather than a phone call, we received an email and a refund. The refund was a bright spot. However if they had 32-8 sleds going out and many of those were family bookings, it would not have been difficult to call to explain, especially since many travelers might not have access to email or check their email with less than 24 hours prior to their paid experience.
