A more professional (beekeeping-focused) visit to the apiary

I have been keeping bees in the Czechia for about 15 years. My apiary is located in the mountains at an altitude of 850 meters, so my bees must cope with frost and snow during the winter. I was very curious to learn what beekeeping is like on São Miguel Island, where it feels like spring all year round.
I arranged a special professional beekeeping-focused visit, and Carolina devoted a great deal of time to me. We had long and fascinating discussions about the differences between beekeeping in very different climates. It was both educational and enjoyable.
At the end of the visit, I had the opportunity to taste several kinds of honey and also to look inside a hive and compare Apis mellifera carnica (the breed of bees I keep in Czechia) with Apis mellifera iberiensis (the breed of bees mainly kept in Spain and Portugal).
It was a great morning filled with bees and a friendly atmosphere!
