点评:Some great work here by Vallette teacher of Lowry. His work concentrates on the grimness of Manchester buildings, the hopelessness of the existence of society at that time. It seemed Lowry changed track from his mentor by making his societies brighter and having significance in the world. Lots of Germanic influenced painting and some fine Waterhouse and Rossetti work. There was a fashion room set that gave a time frame from the early 20th century that was very interesting, some fabulous costumes from the 1980s and Vivienne Westwood creations. My favourite was the New Romantics era, with a fabulous Adam Ant theatrical look, I remember well people dressing like that for the clubs. This gallery is on a beautiful building and well worth a visit, very enjoyable!
