If you want to truly understand Cambodia, a visit to this museum is a must

点评:Whilst our guide discouraged us from visiting this museum, we were so glad we went. It is basic and nothing like the main 'killing fields' museum, but as we were only visiting Siem Reap we decided to go anyway. Whilst we had a basic knowledge of the genocide in Cambodia, this museum put our understanding onto a whole new level. It was shocking and disturbing to see how the perpetrators rose to power by manipulating and lying to gain support, and then turning on the innocent. The evidence of the abject cruelty and torture of innocent people, including children, was shocking. I won't go into detail, but I would never have believed that humans could do such things to each other and find pleasure in the process. However, I feel we owe it to those who suffered and lost their lives to understand what happened. Parts of the museum are outdoor, so wear your sunscreen, but the majority of it is in the shade. The entry fee is minimal. If you want to understand Cambodia, a visit to this museum (or the main Killing Fields) is a must.
