Amazing Day of ancient Corinth & Greek wines

点评：What an amazing day with Dimitri! We departed Athens to see the unbelievable Corinth Canal & remains of the ancient ship transfer system across the isthmus overland by Roman slaves— grooves that still scar the rocks where the ships were hauled! Then we went to the ancient port of Corinth to see where Saint Paul had departed for Ephesus and dispatched Phoebe with a letter to the Romans. Quite a moving sight to see where baptisms had been performed and where he hid overnight before departing to Ephesus. We then enjoyed a brief ride to see the ancient Corinth fortress followed by a visit to the Church of Saint Paul established on a site of his preaching near ancient Corinth. The large mosaic there glistened in the sun amongst the beautiful trees and landscape of Greece. We concluded with a wine tasting in the Greek hills, where we toured the facility and then enjoyed some white wines and red wines, some of which had been stored in barrels and some in clay pots. We especially enjoyed a red wine whose taste changed from semi-sweet to dry after a brief munch of dark chocolate dusted with paprika. Everything was made so much better with Dimitri’s running commentary of the areas visited, both historical and current. We especially enjoyed his sprinkling of Greek mythology & the Greek gods and how that affected the sites that we saw. Highly recommend your spending a fabulous day with Dimitri learning about this special, magical historical and biblical place! It was completely moving and so very very fun! Dimitri is wonderful and we feel so blessed by our grand day with him!
