Cancel your bus tickets well in advance if there is a probability of bad weather

点评：We did the Fimmvörðuháls trail 3 years ago and the bus brought us back to our car. The ride was spectacular as the bus crossed more than 15 rivers and we were vary pleased with Southcoast Adventures.
This year we planned to do the same trail with our kids. So we booked 4 tickets for the same bus and paid 400 euros for the pleasure. In 3 years the price has doubled. When the time came, the forecast was dismal - low temperatures, strong wind and heavy rain. We changed the dates for the next day and the forecast was a lot better. We set off in the morning for this 10-12 hours hike and we found out that in higher altitude the wind is 10-15 m./s. and every step is a struggle because it was pushing us backwards. To walk 10-12 hours in these conditions is potentially life threatening. So we gave up on the hike. Because Southcoast Adventures doesn't allow to cancel the tickets in the last 48 hours we just lost the 400 euros.
So beware: the weather in Iceland is quite unpredictable and bad weather is a lot worse than what you may imagine. So my advice: either buy the tickets at the last moment, or cancel the bus tickets as soon as there is high probability of unstable weather.
