点评：I reached out to 4 companies inquiring about the Ha Giang Loop back in February. Since it was my friends and I first time on the back of a motorbike for an extended period of time (both girls) I requested female drivers, thinking it would be more comfortable and fun for us. No big deal right? 3/4 companies responded: “Sure, no problem.” Here was the response I received from Dragon Team:
“ Hi Karina, thank you very much for trusting and contacting us. However, I do not understand why you require a female guide. The guide’s job is to advise on the itinerary and introduce local culture to customers during the trip. So why do you specifically need a female guide?
In Ha Giang, this is a motorbike tour and the route is very long, with more than 100 km of driving each day. Therefore, this job is generally more suitable for men, while it is not very suitable for women in this working environment. Especially at night, the staff sleeping area is entirely for male staff, so it would not be very appropriate for a female staff member to sleep with them. The tour price is also not enough to arrange a separate room for a female staff member, and no one sells the tour at a higher price just to cover the cost of a separate room for a female staff member.

I answered politely saying we were going with a different company and to consider changing their structure and values to be more inclusive. No response.
April 18 we just finished our 4D3N trip with HaGiang MotorVentures, both had female drivers, and it was incredibly safe, comfortable, and fun. I asked my driver how many trips she’s done- over 40. I asked if the job is hard for her- she said not really😂 👍
If you care at all about equality or women’s rights in any capacity, I recommend all to take their business elsewhere.
