点评:We recently made a return visit to the Kohler design center, flying into Milwaukee, driving an hour north and staying three nights at a hotel. The design center is 36,000 square feet on three floors. The main floor is the product showroom. The top floor is a collection of 30+ designer created room settings, basically all bathrooms. They are inspirational, which is the point! The wallpaper and tiles are also part of each room’s theme. They own Ann Sacks, the tile company. This floor is what inspired our return visit. The building is older, meaning the designers have often created bathrooms in unusually configured spaces.
The lowest floor is the Kohler museum, telling the story of the family, the firm, the town, the Kohler foundation and the ways the firm gives back to the greater community. It is very well done. Here is an example: With their employee’s help, they have planted 90,000 trees. They also have examples of their different designs and product colors through the decades.
Yo7 can spend a lot of time here, because the room settings and story draw you in.
Are there negatives? Only the public toilets on the ground floor work. The designer inspired bathrooms are for show only!
