点评:Only opened in August 2022, this is an engaging place to spend half a day if you are visiting Bhuj. The six themes, each housed in separate connected display spaces of the new building, are a somewhat eclectic mix: maritime (navigation & ship building), energy, mathematics, bonsai trees, nanotechnology and space. Apparently these were selected to complement other science topics in three other similar Regional Science Centres elsewhere in Gujarat, and some such as shipping and renewable energy have some relevance to this part of the state (Kutch). But this is also part of the charm of the place. It is refreshing to be presented with new, different and unexpected things. It is not a museum as such; there are few objects, it's more an explanation of the chosen themes through displays, models and demonstrations. Or in the case of bonsai, lots of small trees. The displays are multi-lingual (including English if you are reading this) as are the young, enthusiastic guides who can give further explanation.
It is designed for large groups of school kids and if that's not for you I'd suggest going on a non-school day. It is some way out of the main part of the town along a busy, badly pot-holed, rubbish-strewn and unshaded road (somewhat in contrast with the immaculate modern high-tech centre itself), so it's best to get an autorickshaw or other lift out there rather than walk as I foolishly did.
