点评：I went with Newmarket to Carcassonne in June 2026 and had a fabulous trip. Fantastic walled upper town with an equally interesting lower town which includes Canal du Midi and river Aude. Spoilt for choice about where to eat in the evening. Not too expensive. The best hotel to stay in (there is a choice of 4) is Mercure Porte de la Cite which is close to the walled city with an outdoor pool, restaurant and fabulous staff. Solo room was good too. Tour Manager, Robbie, was spot on and very enthusiastic about the area. Unfortunately the direct flight from Manchester did not work with the tour dates so had to travel to Stansted but Carcassonne has a lovely, tiny airport. Others came in from Toulouse which they said was ok too. The weather helped as it was glorious and sunny.
