点评:We really enjoyed our visit here. It feels somehow both friendly and spiritual, and you can understand why it is still a living hermitage, used by Franciscans, even today. We saw a couple of the brothers/sisters.
The church is fascinating, covered in beautiful frescoes and paintings spanning several centuries and also is the resting place of the Hermitage’s founder, who you can see in his glass coffin.
There are a few other parts to walk through to and from the church, very attractive and also with great views across the lake.
The visit itself only takes around 40 minutes or so, and you could manage it in less, but the ferries to/from Stresa are somewhat sporadic so there were quite a few people hanging around… there is a seating area covered by a pagoda with natural shade from greenery, luckily. There is a lift, but I’m not sure how it works if you’re arriving by boat as it seemed to be coming from the upper car park area? Otherwise there are around 50 or so stairs between the port area and the hermitage, and then yet more (I don’t know how many) up to the car park, where I believe there is a restaurant...?
