点评：I learned about this tour almost 15 years ago, and as a fan of The Lord of the Rings since high school (I even wrote my thesis on Tolkien), I had dreamed of taking this trip for a very long time… but life doesn’t always allow things to align in the best way.
In the end, though, I managed to book it for the February 2026 tour, the year of my 40th birthday. I set off on my own not really knowing what to expect… but I immediately found a sense of familiarity with the other participants.
The guides, Julie and Josh, are perhaps the best glue for a group of nerds roaming around New Zealand. The organization is precise but never oppressive, and the choice of hotels, restaurants, and refreshment stops has always been impeccable. Not to mention the locations!
Dividing the tour between two guides is perfect, since each brings their own uniqueness to their part of the journey. Julie introduced us to the North Island and to the rhythm of the following two weeks, guiding us by the hand and creating a close-knit group… Josh stepped onto the bus and found a bonded community, then led us toward the wildest adventures of the South Island.
I have to thank them both, because as big fans themselves, their passion really shines through and draws everyone in.
I still can’t believe I was able to see the spectacular landscapes of New Zealand with my own eyes, and I will always carry this experience in my heart.
