Magnificent church with views of Bologna. Pilgrimage from bottom is the best!

点评：The church is beautiful and the views from outside are spectacular. There are places to sit outside and enjoy the open air, or go inside for a prayer or meditative respite from the crowds. When we arrived, there was a mass in progress, which was beautiful. You can get there by bus, San Luca express, or walk.
If you want the true pilgrimage experience walking to the church, the optimal trek is to start at the Porto Saragozza portico and walk through over 600 porticos to the entrance of San Luca, which is about 1 mile or so. Once there, prepare yourself for a difficult climb to the top. There are a combination of steps and ramps, which are challenging for even someone in decent shape. But the walk up has some places to sit (very low benches), and there are statues and views along the way. There are bathrooms on the side of the church that charge a Euro fee. If you are exhausted, you can pick up a city bus near the restaurant that is just outside of the church grounds.
