点评:Having done the Fram and the Kon-tiki as well as a quick look around the Maritime museum, I took the short (about 20mins, mostly flat) walk over to the Oslo Folkmuseum nearby. On the way I passed the Viking ship museum that is sadly currently closed for renovations. I'll be back for that!
The Folk Museum is basically a huge open air collection of buildings from old countryside farm buildings from various eras from around the country (it's broken up by region) right up to modern brick built early urban constructions from Oslo and other cities in Norway.
As you enter, you're greeted with a large town square type area that is rather nice and off to the right, you head into the more older rural section and off to the left, you start in more 'modern' confines and take it from there. The rural area is a full 'working' museum, in that it has staff wandering about in full period dress, tending to animals, picking crops, giving talks, telling stories etc. In the Telemark area, you are also treated to performances of a sort of yodelling accompanied by horns a few times a day which is quite something to watch.
It's a fascinating place but the real stars of the show are the spectacular Stave Church, some of which dates from the 13th century and is an amazing building. Standing inside, looking up at the ceilings in the near darkness with only the light from 2 doorways is something else. The other stand out is Wessels gate, an urban apartment building from the 1860's that stood in Oslo until 1998 when it was transported here brick by brick and now contains several furnished apartments dating from the 1890's to the 1970's showing Norwegian home life.
It's a huge place and you'll easily spend a couple of hours here no trouble. And once you're done, the little cafe near the entrance is there for refreshments. I can highly recommend the cinnamon buns! :)
