Dream of ours to visit this holy place because I was named after this God “Raghavendra “ Finally came true this Feb. I can’t explain the feeling it was so amazing. My mom who couldn’t walk for long due to arthritis walked almost 15 thousand steps ( as per my smart watch) without facing much discomfort afterwards, which I guess only due to the blessings of God. I would like to share few tips from my trip experience.
Tips if you are going on a one day trip to Mantralaya
1.Book the room first then only book bus/train tickets because it’s very difficult to get rooms in temple premises or nearest locations during Thursday and Saturdays and check their check in / check out time before you book its different than normal standard here it’s 6.00 am to 6.00 am
2.If you have anyone with disabilities or aged one with you please note there is no special provision for them inside temple u will get wheel chair but can’t take it inside main sanctum and even won’t get chair while doing sankalpa before any Pooja either you have to sit on floor or stand so keep that in mind. But if old age people can walk there is a provision to directly enter main sanctum from gate 8 instead of long ques
3. There are too many beggars outside the temple premises who will keep following you wherever you go till you pay them. Be careful of them ( really hope temple authorities do something about it)
4. Same with ladies who sell flowers and Diya for Godess who will force you to buy it and come behind you wherever you go be careful with them.
5. And small small kids with sandalwood and clay paste in hand will come near you and directly try to put ‘u ‘ shaped thilak (urdhva pundra) on your forehead without your permission and then ask for Rs.10, of course if you want to put thilak then ok if you don’t want then just try to avoid these kids politely because they are just kids. Can’t scold them also.
6.if you want to go to other 5 nearby temples then the auto rickshaw will charge you Rs.150 per person but also bear in mind that they will put atleast 10 passengers in an auto so if you want to go only with your family of solo then you have to pay full Rs.1500 ( cost of 10 passengers) u get 7 seater van which is much comfortable than auto because most of the autos are old and too noisy and very uncomfortable to travel so before deciding the ride just check it properly van and auto tariffs are same as explained above 👆
7. Udupi Krishna Bhavan just 100 meters away from temple is the best restaurant available near temple there are many restaurants but most of them are very dirty and unhygienic.
8. If you want to perform any Pooja then book it before 7.30 AM of same day from temple counter because after 7.30 u will get booking for next day only. And you have to visit manchalamma temple first before you visit main temple as per their tradition which is just on the right side of main temple
