An older zoo with a lot of heart

点评：As a long term local resident of the local area I can understand why people are disappointed with how this zoo has deteriorated over the years. The enclosures are looking shabby, a lot are empty, many of the animals in the cages are labelled wrong compared to the map. No more Tassie devils as per map as well.
HOWEVER….
I still LOVE this place. The animals themselves appear well looked after and were accepting of interactions with humans. The variety of birds is fantastic. If you are looking for a less controlled intimate experience with Australian animals than this is a great place to start. It’s not got the bells and whistles of bigger zoos but it has got heart. The price is very good for what you get.
A special thank you to the young lad who managed the snake and reptile handling. He was so lovely, very informative.
