An incredible and yet not as well known site in Greece
费尔吉纳十三陵及博物馆的点评
点评：It is a mystery why this place is not more widely known. It is so magnificent that should be swamped by tourists and yet when we were there there were a couple of tourist buses and a few independent tourists, so we were able to enjoy this place to its best.
The site is a multisite one and although its crowning are the Royal Tombs the other 3 sites should not be missed! Obviously the Royal Tombs are an unparallel experience. It is majestic and it has been beautifully presented so that you have the most clear view of all the exhibits and their history. The fact that the exhibits are shown where they were founds is an incredible experience.
Before the Tombs one must visit the relatively new museum. This is a very bright and spacious museum that has been curated in a quirky way, in a fashion I have not seen anywhere else in Greece or abroad! The understanding of the Macedonian culture is magnificent and it provides a great introduction to what you are about to see.,
The Royal Palace which has only recently been restored gives you an idea of the power of the Macedonian kingdom before and after Alexander's time and the transition of the kingdom to a dominant power in Greece. One has to finish with an atmospheric walk of the Royal Cemetery. As this is exposed you can leave this last thing in the day when the sun is not as fierce.
Because of the enormity of the site one would need transport between the sites. I have heard that there are plans to have a local transport so that you park at the Museum and then you hop on and off as you like.
I can recommend this place enough. It is an incredible place not only because of what it offers but also because it gives you an insight into a less well known period of ancient Greece.
You can finish your excursion by a visit of the quaint town of Veroia which has several Byzantine and Ottoman attractions itself, and importantly it offers first class restaurants.
