点评:We spent four days and three nights in Bruges. The day before we left, Sunday, May 17, 2026, we walked over to this park. One could call it an excellent place for romance. Long ago, people believed that water nymphs - it means “minnen” in Dutch - lived here, and how the lake acquired its name. There is also a tragic love story - the legend tells of a young and pretty girl named Minna who was in love with Stromberg, a warrior of another tribe. Her father did not agree with her love and arranged her to marry a man of his choice. Minna escaped and ran into the forest only to die in the arms of her lover. It is said too that by walking across (Minnewaterbrug) the bridge with your partner will seal your relationship with eternal love. Whether you wan to believe it or not, it is a great place to take a peaceful walk among large mysterious trees, plenty of greenery and you get a place overflowing with romance. This lake is also well known for the swans that live here as well as several other types of water fowl.
NOTE: one negative is the opposite side of the bridge is a parking lot and picnic shelter where all the tour buses (mostly traveling from cruise ships) drop off hundreds of people and give them six hours to explore Bruges. We happened to be there at the time and the bridge was suddenly packed with tourists.. We left immediately.
