点评：The Belvedere is absolutely worth visiting, not only for its art collection but for the beauty and history of the complex itself.
The Upper Belvedere is spectacular from the moment you approach it. The Baroque façade, formal gardens, fountains, and long sightlines make the grounds nearly as memorable as the museum. Be sure to explore both sides of the palace and walk through the gardens connecting the Upper and Lower Belvedere. The Lower Belvedere complex is also beautiful and provides another perspective on the history and architecture of the estate.
Tickets for the Upper and Lower Belvedere can be purchased separately, so it is worth deciding in advance how much of the complex you want to explore. There is also Belvedere 21, the contemporary-art museum, which is at a separate nearby location rather than within the historic palace complex.
For many visitors, the centerpiece of the Upper Belvedere is Gustav Klimt’s famous The Kiss, located upstairs along with other important works. Seeing it in person is certainly one of the highlights.
There are also cafés available around the Belvedere locations, making it easy to slow down and spend several hours exploring rather than treating this as a quick museum stop.
Even if you are not an avid museumgoer, the combination of art, architecture, gardens, views, and imperial history makes the Belvedere worthwhile. It is a wonderful place to experience another piece of Vienna’s history and gain greater context for the Habsburg era while seeing one of the city’s most beautiful palace complexes.
