点评:First and foremost, the building in which the museum is located is very impressive and worth seeing in it's own right, part of the huge Arsenal complex dating back to the 1850s.
On arrival, I was disappointed to learn that the 1918-45 exhibition was closed for renovation as that period is a particular interest of mine but what is on view was excellent. In particular, the WW1 rooms were most interesting with a very good chronology of the war and many fascinating exhibits, the highlight of which for me was the car in which Archduke Franz Ferdinand was travelling when assassinated.
Earlier periods of military history back to the 16th Century are covered elsewhere in the museum and you could easily spend several hours there. The only negative point I would make about the museum is that the cafe is not good and we found the staff in it a bit dour.
To end on a more positive note, in a city where the more famous museums can be very expensive to visit this one is an absolute bargain at €3.50 per person. Best value in Vienna.
