Too risky to drive through fields
Rochester Falls的点评
点评：I decided on my final full day in Mauritius to take a trip to Rochester Falls. I has pretty much coveted the whole of Mauritius that week.
The night before, I looked at parking options. It appears there is one at the top of the falls, and one in the village (Surinam, near/in Souillac). As my GPS suggested the latter, I opted for this.
The problem with the option I picked is it is, to say the least, a conspicuous village with certain characters hovering around. Eventually you come to a dead send where Rochester Falls is signed. I assume you have the option to drive through the fields (risky for you and the car), or park up and walk (also risky for you and the car!).
As I didn't trust this, I just decided to knock it on the head and turn back. Well my GPS kept failing, and I was going round in circles. Young kids laughing (the least of my problems as I was more concerned they would call in locals to capture me), and roaming dogs jumping at my car. The relief when I finally found an exit was of huge amounts.
If you are to go, look at the option to park at the top. The view may not be as good (maybe you can find a place further down for better photos), but the risk and stress will be far less. I had done Tamarin Falls which is far more memorable I would expect, so prioritise that over Rochester Falls would be my advice.
