Unusually beautiful church with crypt beneath.

点评：Must see in Porto. The complex includes stunning Franciscan church, catacombs and museum.
The church is literally out of this world. It is very solemn with clean lines from outside and you expect solemn and serene inside and are absolutely flabbergasted when you enter into the most ornate church with every inch of interior covered in gold. This opulence apparently was created in a modest Franciscan church as Porto itself became rich due to trade of mostly port wine.
They don’t allow any pictures inside which we realized after inadvertently taking a few photos. The tree of Jesse on the side of the church is amazing in itself.
Overall completely unique experience.
Catacombs are an actual cemetery for the monks and prominent residents of Porto. There is even an ossuary, which was a first for me, and pretty morbid to be honest.
Interesting contrast between splendor of the church and crypt below.
Museum has interesting artifacts, mostly religious, but also objects of everyday life like carriages.
There is one ticket for church, museum and catacombs, three great experiences. Can combine with another terrific spot Palace de Bolsa next door for a wonderful Porto experience.
