点评:We visited whilst staying in Ludwigsburg. We'd planned to use public transport (seemed straight forward enough and inexpensive) but in the end we drove. It was very hot and suddenly public transport (and some lengthy walking to the museum) did not appeal! It was a Sunday so roads not busy and parking was easy, only 6 euro too. The MB experience started in the carpark as dotted around were MB cars in glass boxes in parking bays, some mid century models and some a bit later.
There were no queues at the ticket desks so it was quick entry. Do ask for if not offered the senior entry ticket, it is half the normal admission. The sullen girl at my kiosk did not so ended up paying full price but my partner at the next kiosk was asked. That ticket agent then kindly gave me a refund and reissued me with a senior entry. The girl who initially served me just shrugged her shoulders - nice!
The museum is a spiral route from the beginnings of MB to the future with a pictural historical time line running along the route covering all sorts of local and world events and issues, including MB's dubious role in WWII. It's all quite engrossing. Brilliant car displays from passenger vehicles to racing cars to commercial transport. The layout reminded me of the BMW museum we visited last summer but here MB has the upper hand. There is also a huge MB 'showroom' where presumably you can buy your MB. The BMW 'showroom' was better though (BMW World), probably because there are more marques under the BMW umbrella so more cars to drool over!
There are sufficient quality (and expensive) refreshment outlets and the gift/souvenir shop is extensive, ranging from inexpensive mementoes to big ticket boys toys, MB branded clothing and accessories. Did look at the MB aftershave and perfumes and noted that they can be obtained at lower prices from on line sources in the UK. Just saying!
