点评:Copies, reproductions, photos, facsimiles and posters make up the bulk of this exhibition. Of all the individual items here, maybe 1/5 were made by Duchamp himself, and half of those were multiples- prints and engravings.
Exhibitions here have been really hit and miss over the years. Sometimes outstanding, sometimes a boring void of emptiness.
If you really have to see the Duchamp , get a Museumsuferticket and don't pay full price.
If you didn't know, Duchamp was a bit of a huckster with a brief artistic period. After he 'retired' from art he licensed his name to reproductions of his works.
I'll give the MMK two stars for this production, as there were at least a handful of interesting works- especially his figurative oil paintings circa 1910.
What really annoyed me was how the fake junk was taped off as if it were something rare and valuable. They decorated a doorway, and forbid people to walk through it(!)
You have to feel bad for the security staff here. I figure they're hired via some welfare employment scheme. Stuck all day in this glaring neon emptiness, surrounded by disappointed visitors, charged with protecting worthless replicas, and being told off by unhappy visitors.
So please don't waste your time on this unless you have a museum pass.
