点评：The artefacts displayed in this museum, including the remarkable vases of Botromagno, were excavated through the dedicated work of the British School at Rome and several other Anglophone institutions and professors. Imagine my surprise, then, to find not a single word of English anywhere in the museum. The guide struggled to speak Italian, let alone English. The very people whose academic efforts brought these objects to light are greeted with the linguistic equivalent of a closed door. A remarkable case of institutional ingratitude.
The visit itself proved no less disappointing. We were informed, only after paying our five euros, that the guide was alone, the building was closing, and we would need to cover three floors at considerable speed. What followed was not so much a guided tour as a brisk march through centuries of history, with no opportunity to pause, read, or absorb anything of substance.
Entered at 12:01. Deposited outside at 12:14, none the wiser.
