Bigotry behind the bar

点评：Beautiful old pub we’ve frequented on many trips to the lakes. Unfortunately on this occasion my husband and I overheard the staff behind the bar making incredibly rude comments about some other customers in the bar who, like us, were from the North East. To quote “it’s a shame half of our customers are from Newcastle”, “I don’t speak French but I understand the French more than people from the North East”, and then made further derogatory remarks about northern accents being like unreadable messy handwriting!
Later in the evening I was chatting with another member of staff at the bar and as I walked away the same bar-man said “what?” to the other feller working behind the bar - implying he didn’t understand me because of my accent.
This attitude ruined the night for us, an absolute disgrace for our identity to be insulted when we were simply trying to enjoy our holiday. Perplexed as to why an entitled bigot would seek employment in a tourist area of the north west, if they had such distain for people from different walks of life! Completely unprofessional and unacceptable from someone in the service industry. Will not be visiting again.
