点评:I wanted to provide some feedback regarding our experience at the café today.
We attended with two young clients (aged 12 and 14) who independently ordered and paid for their meals. This was a really big moment for them, as both experience a high level of anxiety, and speaking up in this way is a big achievement.
There was a simple mix-up with one order a large fish and chips was prepared instead of a small. When this was politely raised, the staff member came out to address it multiple times, speaking in a loud and abrupt manner. On each occasion, it was stated that the “entire fish and chips would need to be thrown out” in order to remake the correct size.
This approach came across as quite confronting and gave the impression that the young person was at fault as she ‘couldn’t hear him’ which was particularly disheartening given the confidence it took for them to order independently.
While we understand that mistakes happen, the way they are handled can make a significant difference especially for young people who are building confidence in social settings.
I hope this feedback is taken on board. Unfortunately I won’t be bringing clients back.
