点评:We had a blast at Hold a Baby Lamb. This is an absolute must do! It can feel a little chaotic at times with so many people, and at first I honestly thought it might be stressful, but the more we learned about the baby lambs and what they do here, the happier I was that we stopped.
We also did the sheepdog tour and learned how Dave the dog works with the sheep. There was an older gentleman, who I think was the grandfather, along with a younger gentleman, his son, explaining everything to us. They shared that many lambs are born in triplets, and often the mother cannot care for all three, so the third lamb is sometimes left behind. That is how many of these lambs end up at Hold a Baby Lamb, where tourists can help feed and care for them. Each lamb takes about five feedings a day, so the more helping hands the better!
At one point my daughter suddenly exclaimed, “Wait a second... are these all orphan lambs because their moms left them behind?” The owner kind of chuckled and said, “Yeah, I guess so.” That tugged at my heartstrings even more knowing these sweet little lambs were the rejected leftovers, and we were so happy to help feed them multiple times.
We spent about two and a half hours there between the sheepdog tours, the beehives, and feeding the lambs. This was probably the highlight of our trip. My kids absolutely loved it.
