The Stones and Bones Museum in Sarnia is one of those rare places that completely surprises you the moment you step inside. From the street, it looks modest — but once you enter, it becomes a maze of natural history wonders, room after room packed with taxidermy, fossils, shells, stones and gems, and countless other treasures. Every turn reveals something new, strange, beautiful, or unexpected. It’s the kind of museum where you slow down, lean in, and keep saying, “Look at this!”
Our tour guide made the visit even better. They were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and full of great stories, the kind of guide who brings the exhibits to life with fun facts and deep-cut trivia. You could feel their passion for natural history in every explanation.
There’s a bittersweet note to visiting right now: the museum is closing before the end of summer as they prepare to move into their new home inside the library. Everything will be packed into storage, and it may be years before they reopen. That makes a visit feel extra special — like you’re experiencing a beloved local institution in its final chapter.
Before leaving, we browsed the quirky little gift shop, full of unique items and natural-history‑themed souvenirs. Parking was simple with easy street parking right outside.
If you’re in Sarnia, don’t miss this wonderfully quirky, educational, and memorable spot. Highly recommended before it closes for the move.
They are only open Friday, Saturday & Sunday 11 Am - 5 pm. Last entry is 4pm. So plan your visit accordingly.
Their last day of operation is September 6th, 2026 - so you should go visit very soon, before they go into hibernation.

不过现在来参观也带有一丝遗憾：由于即将迁至图书馆内新建的馆址，这座博物馆将在夏末闭馆。所有物品都将被收进仓库，恐怕要过好几年才会重新开放。正因如此，此时前去参观才显得尤为特别——仿佛正在见证这家深受当地人喜爱的场所走向它的最后篇章。
离开前，我们逛了逛那家风格别致的小礼品店，里面摆满了各式各样的独特商品以及以自然历史为主题的纪念品。店外的街道上停车也很方便。
如果你身处萨尼亚，千万别错过这个既别致有趣又富有教育意义、令人难忘的好去处。强烈建议在它因搬迁而关闭之前去参观。
